The Difference Between Notarized And Certified Translations

There is often a huge confusion between a certified translation and a notarized translation. To understand the difference, one has to go deeper into the meaning and service provided.

What is a notarized translation?

It is a 3rd party service where the authorized agency will check whether the work designated is aptly done. This is a particular kind of notarization that private clients sometimes need to assure that a project is done as it was meant to be. If any discrepancy is found, the appointed translator will be held responsible. Notarized translation is done for legal and semi-legal translation services.

What is a certified translation?

Official certified translation, on the other hand, is a certification of a translator who has been approved by a regulatory authority for doing a particular genre of the certified translation. This translation service becomes a legal contract between a translator and a client that every information should be perfectly translated into a particular language. This service can only be provided by the certified translators to assure quality and legal records, if necessary.

Difference between certified and notarized translation

An official notarized translation is hired and authorized by a governing body to check whether the translation job is being done properly. This is done when the client wants to submit very important documents to a respected authority. A standard has to be maintained and it is the notarized translator who will take care of it. Only the chosen translators become notarized personnel hired for a job.

Certified language translation, on the other hand, is hired for translating various kinds of technical documents in the right format to eradicate the language barrier. To do this job, one has to pass an exam to become certified by the governing authority.  This is the prime difference between a notarized and certified translator. These services can be provided by the same agency.
